Q1. How many stages are there in your recruitment process?
This will depend on the level of role and the area of the business the position sits within.
Typically there will be a number of stages which may include:
• an initial telephone assessment with one of the Resourcing Team
• online assessments
• a technical interview
• a competency based interview
• final stage interview with the hiring manager, relevant stakeholders and/or member of the Resourcing Team
Q2. How will I know if I have been successful after the initial stages?
After the initial telephone assessment, we will advise you if you are progressing to the next stage and you will be sent the links to the online assessments if applicable.
Q3. What do the online questionnaires assess?
Ability/technical experience (there is a minimum benchmark set for these assessments, you will progress to the next stage if you meet this benchmark) and/or a profiling assessment (to understand if you possess the key attributes and drivers possessed by successful employee in Yell).
Q4. Will the online assessments be sent to me via email and will I be able to do these at home?
Yes, you will receive links to both the assessments in separate emails and these can be sent to your preferred email address. Because the tools are web-based you can access them from any PC, Laptop or Mac, provided you have a secure internet connection.
Q5. What is a Competency Interview?
A competency based interview can also be referred to as a situational or behavioural interview. Applicants will need to answer using situational examples to illustrate personality, skill set and individual competencies.
Q6. What training will i get if i am successful?
Once in role there are many in-house training programmes designed to help you develop and flourish, and to deliver the kind of service that our customers have grown to expect. You will receive an email on your first day with a link to an on-line induction.
Q7. What benefits do Yell offer?

CV Screen
An initial telephone assessment
Two online questionnaires
A Behavioural Event Interview with one of our Resourcing Team
Final stage will be a competency based interview with the Area Sales Manager.
Q2. How will I know if I have been successful after the initial stages?
After the initial telephone assessment, we will advise you if you are progressing to the next stage and send you the link to the 1st of the online assessments. If you're successful at this stage, you'll be invited to take part in take in a behavioural event interview and complete a further online selling style questionnaire in advance.
Q3. What do the online questionnaires assess?
Intellect/ability (there is a minimum benchmark set for this assessment, you will progress to the next stage if you meet this benchmark) and a psychometric assessment (to understand if you possess the key attributes and drivers possessed by our successful sales people).

Q5. What is a behavioural interview?
A behavioural event interview asks applicants to describe past experiences so that we can identify how they have worked in their previous role. Past performance is a good predictor of future success.
Q6. Why does this process have so many stages?
Our process takes a little longer and allows us to gather enough information so that we can be sure we are making the right choices and hopefully to allow you to be sure you are making the right career choice too.
Q7. What training will I get if I am successful?
All sales recruits join our two week, award-winning, Initial Sales Training Course. The course maybe residential, though you will be able to go home at weekends. Once you start in your role there are many in-house training programmes designed to help you develop and flourish, and to deliver the kind of service that our customers have grown to expect.
